SNOMED Integrated Into the
PEPID Knowledge Base

Evanston, IL — February 04, 2008 — Recognizing the importance of standardized medical terminology within healthcare information technology around the world, PEPID Medical Information Resources has now integrated SNOMED (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms).

Healthcare professionals often use different terms to describe the same things, and implementing a standardized format ensures that nothing is lost in translation. SNOMED within the PEPID Knowledge Base allows healthcare professionals around the world to have access to clinical decision support along with a common approach to terminology, making it easier for healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and health records.

The fusion of PEPID and SNOMED facilitates communication between healthcare professionals, creates more consistent electronic medical records, and ultimately, improves patient safety.
